To raise awareness among the school community about Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and promote respect, schools in the state education network carried out activities in reference to World Autism Awareness Day, celebrated this Tuesday, 2nd. Walk, informative video , lectures and recreational activities were part of the initiatives.

With flags and posters, students from Escola Professora Rosalina Alvares Silva Cruz, in Belém, raised awareness among the local community. The students and school teams took a walk around the school, which was attended by 250 people, including students, guardians, teachers, coordination and management.

A conversation circle held by the teachers and pedagogical team of the Nossa Senhora da Conceição State School, were able to transmit knowledge and share experiences with the unit’s students, in addition to showing educational videos on the topic. Escola Professora Guajarina de Souza da Silva also held lectures with students. A themed welcome was also held at Escola Professor Jorge Lopes Raposo, with the distribution of stickers in reference to the date and pamphlets with some guidance.

In Ananindeua, in the Metropolitan Region of Belém, the Anani school unit worked with conversation circles and storytelling for students. “This moment is essential for them to understand some situations within the classroom, such as, for example, the noise that bothers many of them. So, I realized that my students were able to understand and have respect. Many parents told me that their children feel included in the classroom and that is great, because we are on the right path”, said teacher Lidiane Bahia.

In the municipality of Mojuí dos Campos, the Fernando Guilhon State School, and in Belterra, at the Waldemar Maués unit, belonging to the Regional Education Directorate (DRE) of Santarém, they promoted awareness-raising work around the unit.

In Cachoeira do Arari, the José Rodrigues Viana and Delgado Leão State Schools carried out the “Blue Autism Awareness Walk”, which aimed to draw society’s attention to the care and attention needed by people with ASD.

“We consider the support and recognition of neurodiversity crucial for promoting quality and equitable education. This practice must be encouraged and supported by educational institutions in all spheres, as this way we will achieve great social success”, concluded the director of Escola Delgado Leão, Janaina Bragança.
