Teams from the Specialized Homicide and Personal Protection Police Station (DHPP) of Cuiabá and the Civil Police of Campo Grande (MS) arrested this Tuesday (02) the suspects of being the masterminds behind the murders of Gersino Rosa dos Santos and Cleyton de Oliveira de Souza Paulino, on November 23rd of last year, at Shopping Popular, in the capital.
The suspects, identified only by their initials, JBS, and his son, WBS, aged 31, were arrested in a house in Campo Grande. In addition to the execution of the arrest warrants, firearms were seized, found in the residence and which may be linked to the crime.
Silvio Junior Peixoto, 26 years old, was the person responsible for the double homicide, and was arrested on March 25, in Uberlândia, Minas Gerais, hiding in the house of an ex-girlfriend’s aunt. He confessed to the crime and said he accepted the proposal under the agreement that he would receive R$10,000 to commit the crime.
According to information from police chief Nilson Farias, the merchant’s death was ordered out of revenge.
Days before the double homicide occurred, the mastermind’s son, Girlei Silva da Silva, aged 31, known by the nickname ‘Maranhão’, was killed in the Santa Laura neighborhood, in Cuiabá. The victim’s family said that Maranhão’s death was ordered by Gersino Rosa and so they decided to kill the merchant in revenge.
The suspects were taken to a police station in Campo Grande, where they will be interrogated, and then presented to a custody hearing by the Judiciary of Mato Grosso do Sul.
The transfer of mother and son to Cuiabá should take place later this week.
