In the first quarter of 2024, the cost of a liter of gasoline in Rio Grande do Norte increases by R$0.394 per liter, including readjustments at the refinery and the increase in the AdRem value of ICMS. Considering the average values at the beginning of the year, these almost R$0.40 cents per liter are equivalent to an increase of 6.72% in the first three months of the year (1.8 times the inflation forecast for the entire year 2024) .

In the same period, gas stations in the state transferred an average of R$0.31 per liter, according to data from the National Petroleum Agency, absorbing the remainder of the increase as a way of mitigating the natural drop in sales that occurs when there is a rise in prices. in the pumps. Of the almost R$0.40 cents that gasoline rose in the first quarter, R$0.242 corresponds to the accumulated adjustment (four increases and three reductions, as shown in the table below) at the Clara Camarão refinery.

The remaining R$0.152 relates to the increase, as of February 1st, in the AdRem ICMS rate, which increased (across Brazil) from R$1.22 to R$1.3721 per liter. As a result, the fixed value now corresponds, based on the average price of gasoline at gas stations in Rio Grande do Norte calculated by the ANP on March 30, to 22.2% or 2.2 percentage points above the 18% ICMS modal. practiced by the State.
