Rio – The NGO Favela Mundo, through its project “Favela Hope”, is offering 50 places for a free contemporary photography course in Rio de Janeiro. To participate, you just need to be over 15 years old. Registration begins this Wednesday (3) and must be done via the organization’s website.

Classes will start on April 8th. In the course, students will study photography and image editing techniques on professional cameras and also on smartphones.

The initiation course is also aimed at those who already work in the area. Basic and primordial questions of photography will be addressed.

Classes will take place every Monday from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm, at CIEP Henfil, in Caju, Rio’s Port Zone. They will be taught by Raphael Pizzino, master in Visual Arts and photography professor at UFRJ.

Pizzino explains that the main expectation is that the classes allow young people in the community to come into contact with the world of photography.

“Photography serves as a tool for the critical development of perspectives on their worlds, as well as a first training course for those who aspire to work in the field, and is also a tool for generating income”, he said.
