We will be publishing this plan in the second half of April with all the detailed actions, ranging from preventive actions to combat and control actions in the period that we believe will be most critical”, he highlighted.

Mauren points out that Sema has been preparing with prevention actions since 2020. For this year, the secretariat reported that it is dealing with the State of Mato Grosso do Sul to establish a cooperation agreement, in addition to having contact with Ibama, so that Federal government planning is integrated with State execution.

Environmental Conciliation Task Force

The first Environmental Conciliation Task Force of 2024, for agreements to recover degraded areas, began this Monday (1st).

This year, four editions will be held from April 1st to 5th, from July 1st to 5th, from September 23rd to 27th and from December 2nd to 6th, at the headquarters of the MPMT (State Public Ministry), in Cuiabá, always starting at 8:30 am.

The initiative is aimed at the most complex cases of environmental infractions and offers those who are interested in reconciling solutions in the three spheres of liability, civil, administrative and criminal.

Where does the fine money go?

The secretary said that all funds raised are directed to the environment. “She [verba] it will be deposited in the State Environmental Fund or it may be directly applied, as, for example, we did with CAR Digital [Cadastro Ambiental Rural]”, he explains.

She also says that the revitalization of the children’s area at Parque Mãe Bonifácia, in Cuiabá, was also done with the same resource.

Maruen highlights that collecting fines is a problem for all bodies and the joint effort is a way of regularizing and anticipating the processes of citizens who have irregularities.

The secretariat emphasizes that the collective efforts have helped Sema to improve its collection. In 2022, the normal payment of fines reached around R$12 million. With the joint efforts, there was a total of R$38 million in 2023.

“We have strategies to increase not only conciliation, but faster judgment of the process”, highlights Lazzaretti.

The secretary reports that the infraction notice also serves as an educational form. Since the offender will have to correct the damage, in addition to having to pay the fine.
