Professor Sandra Lemos temporarily assumes the rectorship of the State University of Rio Grande do Sul

Professor Sandra Monteiro Lemos takes over as rector of the State University of Rio Grande do Sul (Uergs), according to publication in the Official State Gazette (DOE) this Tuesday (2/4).

Sandra holds the position pro tempore, that is, for 12 months. The then interim rector, Fernando Martins, appointed in 2022, exceeded the twelve-month period established in State Decree 43.240/04.

She is a professor, PhD in Education from Uergs, state coordinator of the Pibid Institutional Coordinators Forum in Rio Grande do Sul (Forpibid-RS), member of the Permanent State Forum to Support Teacher Training (Fepad-RS). She was vice-rector and superintendent of planning at Uergs (2018-2022), consultant at the National Institute of Educational Research Anísio Teixeira – Inep (2012–2014) and pedagogical consultant at UNESCO (2005–2006), in addition to having experience as a teacher at Higher education in undergraduate and postgraduate courses (2008-2014) and educational planning and evaluation. She worked at the State Department of Education as deputy head of the Undersecretary of Education Development.
