Jorge Rodríguez, president of the Venezuelan Assembly, controlled entirely by the PSUV, accused the countries’ leaders, who, despite being allies of Nicolás Maduro, expressed some concern about the fact that not all candidates were authorized to register for the elections.

Denying everything that happened in recent days, Jorge Rodríguez, president of the Venezuelan Assembly, controlled entirely by the PSUV, said that the candidates were authorized to register and continues to accuse Corina Machado.

In what was read by the Chavistas as a low blow against the regime, the governments of Brazil and Colombia, for the first time, criticized Maduro, who did not even allow the candidate chosen by María Corina Machado to replace her to register for the National Electoral Council.

For many it was a surprise that Lula and Gustavo Petro expressed some disagreement with Maduro’s actions.

The Venezuelan dictator had committed, through the Barbados Accords, that he would open a path to transparent elections. Far from that, however, Maduro blocked all avenues for the opposition to register a consensus candidate, such as professor Corina Yoris.

The open violation of the Barbados agreements caused even Lula and Gustavo Petro, president of Colombia, to attempt a timid rebuke.

The Brazilian president said, on Thursday, March 28, that Corina Yoris’ non-participation in the Venezuelan presidential elections is “serious” and Gustavo Petro reacted to Maduro’s criticism in which he accused the left that had criticized him of cowards.

Another person who spoke about the matter was the President of France, Emmanuel Macron, who, on the occasion of his visit to Brazil, commented on the matter in a press conference, strongly condemning the exclusion of Maduro’s opponent in the electoral contest.

All of this provoked a reaction from the president of the Venezuelan Assembly, Jorge Rodríguez, who alleged an alleged assassination plot against Maduro:

President Petro, President Lula, Mujica, etc. Do you know about the insurrection and assassination plan revealed here by the main spokesman of fascism in Miami? Would your countries accept plans to attack the president like those we have revealed on countless occasions?”

Jorge Rodríguez continued calling Maria Corina Machado’s party a “fascist organization”:

Did you know that the fascist organization Vente Venezuela never requested registration as a political party nor was there any nomination on its own initiative? This party was never registered with the CNE nor did it seek registration on its own initiative. Have you heard that 100% of the parties accredited by the CNE have registered one of the 13 candidates, from across the political spectrum, who are running for president of Venezuela. Ignorance? Fear? We don’t get involved in anyone’s business. Stick your opinions where they fit“, he said.
