Governor Ratinho Junior participated this Thursday (2) in two important events in Foz do Iguaçu and Marechal Cândido Rondon, two of the main cities in the west of Paraná. Initially, in the city of Cataratas, he launched the project for the new Porto Seco de Foz, which should double cargo movement on the triple border between Brazil, Paraguay and Argentina.

The structure will be built by the company Multilog, which won the tender promoted by the Federal Revenue Service and is already responsible for operating the municipality’s current dry port. With a planned investment of R$ 500 million, the new bonded unit will be installed in an area of 550 thousand square meters, on the banks of the BR-277 highway, outside the urban area of the city, and with easy access to Perimetral Leste and Ponte de Brazil-Paraguay Integration.

“Paraguay and Argentina are strategic partners of Paraná which, due to their location in the region, have the vocation of being the logistics center of South America, helping in the development of the region”, stated Ratinho Junior. “Foz do Iguaçu is the gateway to Brazil for products that come from Paraguay and Argentina, and we have to be prepared for that,” he added.

Afterwards, the governor officially handed over the 6 km stretch that removes truck traffic from the center of the city of Marechal Cândido Rondon (photo), allowing a more agile and safe connection between PRC-467 and BR-163. The State invested R$43 million in the project.

The work is part of the Paraná Strategic Transport Infrastructure and Logistics Program, the result of a partnership between the Secretariat of Infrastructure and Logistics and the IDB. “It is a region with a very strong productive sector, which needs a structure to transport its production. The investment in this area serves the entire West of the State, making the logistics of harvest flow more agile”, said the Secretary of Infrastructure and Logistics, Sandro Alex.

On the way between Foz and Rondon, Ratinho Junior stopped in Toledo to pave the Toledo-Assis Chateaubriand connection and lay the cornerstone of another road duplication considered essential for the region’s development: BR-317. (Photo: Ari Dias/AENPR)
