This Friday, Flamengo fans showed up in force at Tijuca Tênis Clube, Rio de Janeiro. With a packed gym, the Rio team faced Fortaleza in the first match of the NBB quarterfinals and won 79 to 71. The match was balanced until the third quarter, but the home team picked up the pace, took advantage and came out on top. ahead of the playoffs in best of five games.
Flamengo and Fortaleza faced each other twice in the first phase of the competition, and the Rio team won both matches. The Ceará team finished the regular season in eighth place, while the red-blacks finished first. In this Friday’s clash, Gabriel Jaú took responsibility and finished as the scorer of the match with 22 points.
The two teams will face each other again this Tuesday at the Olympic Training Center, home of Fortaleza. The clash will be best of five games in search of a place in the semifinals of the Brazilian basketball tournament.
