In Mato Grosso do Sul, 5,095 people were unable to obtain a new ID immediately, due to discrepancies in the information in the documents presented with those registered with the Federal Revenue Service. There are almost 424 requests denied per week. The biggest problems reported are errors in marital status or parents’ names. The data was recorded from the start of broadcasts, in January, until this Monday (1) ).
Márcio Paroba, director of the Mato Grosso do Sul Identification Institute, explains that the problem has been recurring and that people usually don’t know how to solve it. “There’s a lot of it. That’s why citizens complain that they can’t create the document right away, because the data needs to be the same. Sometimes, a woman gets married and adds her husband’s name, but does not update it in the IRS”.
According to the director, as soon as there are errors in the data, the citizen is advised to regularize the situation with the Federal Revenue Service and reschedule the service to issue the new ID. He adds that many cases do not require rescheduling, but to avoid problems it is best to do so.
“It takes an average of 48 to 72 hours for the update to be returned. Most of the time it is not necessary, the head of the station already arranges with the person to return on a specific day, but he will inform you. When you discover that you have conflicting data, the person needs to go to the website and wait.”
To request the change of personal data, citizens need to access this website and follow the instructions. After the request, it is necessary to wait for the IRS to return and reschedule the issuance of the new ID. The process can also be done at post offices.
