Monte Verde and Maria da Fé, in the south of Minas, record the first and second lowest temperatures in Brazil, with 9.2°C and 9.3°C, consecutively.

The measurement, made by the National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet), took place between the night of this Sunday (31st) and 8am this Monday (1st). Therefore, today was the coldest morning of the year in the state.

“Today’s minimum temperature in Monte Verde was the same as Sunday (31). Therefore, yesterday and today, for now, are the two days with the lowest temperature recorded in 2024”, said Inmet meteorologist, Anete Fernandes.

Also according to the organization, Caldas, which is in the same region, occupied sixth place in the ranking. Check the list below

  • Monte Verde (MG): 9.2°C

  • Pico do Couto (RJ): 11.5°C
