In the first three months of 2024, the state of Acre demonstrated a significant decrease in serious cases of dengue, without recording deaths related to the disease. This information was released by the Health Emergency Operations Center (COE) of the Ministry of Health.

The report, which considers the first 12 epidemiological weeks of the year, indicates that there were only three serious cases of dengue in the state, representing an 80% drop compared to the same period in 2023, when 15 serious cases were recorded.

Contrasting with the general trend in the North region, which experienced an increase in the number of serious cases — from 186 in 2023 to 193 in 2024 — Acre had no deaths from dengue in the first quarter of both years. Meanwhile, the North region saw a reduction in the number of deaths, from 11 in 2023 to six in 2024.

However, the number of “normal” cases of the disease has increased. The incidence of dengue in the first three months of 2024 was 758.1 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, a significant increase compared to the 261.5 cases per 100,000 inhabitants recorded in the previous year.
