The Peregum Black Reference Institute is accepting applications for the Esperança Garcia Program, which will help prepare black students for public legal career exams. The program is a partnership between the Attorney General’s Office (AGU) and the Ministry of Racial Equality.

They are 130 vacancies for an online course, lasting three years. Of this total, 30 are scholarships worth R$ 3.5 thousand a month. The vacancies are exclusively for black people taking a preparatory course for careers in the National Public Advocacy. Registration is open until April 3rd.

The complete notice, with the requirements and documentation necessary for registration, can be accessed on the program’s website. The selection of candidates will take into account socioeconomic criteria and gender diversity, for example.

According to the institute, the objective of the program is to encourage an increase in the number of black students in public positions in legal careers. Even with the majority of the black population in the country, less than 15% of judges in Brazil are black: 12% they are brown and just 1.7% they are black.
