The Mato Grosso Court maintained the arrest of the investigated Silvio Junior Peixoto, aged 26, identified as the author of the double homicide at Shopping Popular, on November 22, 2023 in Cuiabá.
The decision was taken by judge Maria Rosi de Meira Borba, from the 4th Criminal Court, after a custody hearing held last Thursday (28).
“I see that the arrest of Silvio Junior Peixoto took place within the parameters required by law, with no report by the prisoner of any occurrence of abuse or torture by the police authority that carried it out”, says an excerpt from the decision.
Sílvio confessed to having received the amount of R$10,000 to kill businessman Gersino Rosa dos Santos, 43 years old.
In the action, he ended up accidentally killing salesman Cleiton de Oliveira de Souza Paulino, aged 27.
After months on the run, Sílvio had his arrest warrant served on Monday night (25). He was hiding in an ex-girlfriend’s aunt’s house, in Uberlândia (MG).
The crime
On the morning of November 22, 2023, Sílvio entered Shopping Popular with a gun, targeting businessman Gersino Rosa. The establishment’s security cameras filmed the criminal’s entire action.
The images show that after finding Gersino, who was talking to another person, he pulled out a pistol and shot the businessman in the back of the head.
The two victims died inside the mall. After the shots, the killer fled through the door that leads to the gas station next door.
