The governor of Rio de Janeiro, Cláudio Castro (PL), published a photo on his social network with the president of France, Emmanuel Macron, taken on Wednesday, 27th, during the launch of the third submarine resulting from the partnership between the Brazilian governments and French. In the record, President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) is behind Macron and, despite not being mentioned, his hand appears.
The governor celebrated Macron’s presence at the Port of Itaguaí, in Rio de Janeiro, and stated that the “visit further strengthens ties between Brazil and France”, but did not mention Lula. The Tonelero, a submarine named Janja, is the third built entirely in Brazil under the Submarine Development Program (Prosub), an initiative that took place in an agreement signed with France in 2008, during the second term of the Brazilian president.
Castro, who in the photo shakes hands with the head of the French Executive, also said in the publication that the visit consolidates “an economic partnership of great importance for us. The trip intensifies our cooperation and strengthens commercial agreements between the countries.”
From the party of former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL), the governor of Rio said at an event held in February that “the elections are over. We have to work together regardless of party color and ideological flags”, returning the president’s nod.
