AM adds 3,290 cases for dengue and 2,480 for Oropouche Fever, points out FVS
The Amazonas Health Surveillance Foundation – Dr. Rosemary Costa Pinto (FVS-RCP), a unit linked to the State Department of Health of Amazonas (SES), publishes, this Thursday (28/03), the Epidemiological Report on Arboviruses in Amazonas. In Amazonas, from January 1st to this Thursday (03/28), 19,955 suspected cases of arboviruses were reported, with 3,290 confirmed by laboratory or clinical-epidemiological criteria for dengue, 7 for Chikungunya, 28 for Zika , specifically by laboratory criteria, 2,480 cases of Oropouche Fever, 38 cases of Mayaro Fever. The data is contained in the Notifiable Diseases Information System (Sinan) and the Laboratory Environment Manager (GAL).
List
In the list of municipalities in Amazonas with the highest number of reported cases of arboviruses: Manaus (7,105), Tefé (1,194), Manacapuru (1,019), Coari (786), Carauari (740), Tonantins (735), Lábrea (706), Iranduba (645), Codajás (498), and Envira (476).
Prevention
The best way to avoid arboviruses is to combat water accumulation areas, which are suitable places for the breeding of mosquitoes that transmit the diseases.
In addition to these measures, prevention against Oropouche Fever also involves avoiding entering forest areas and riverbanks (mainly between 9 am and 4 pm), cleaning backyards, avoiding the accumulation of organic matter and, when possible, recommending if the use of repellents.
