The Court of Justice of Alagoas (TJAL) ended, last Tuesday (26), the delivery of sanitary pads collected in the “Um Fluxo de Amor” campaign. The donation, which took place at Casa de Ranquines, located in Jaraguá, totaled more than 2,800 units.

Edjane Martiniano, 29 years old, said that he was homeless when he arrived at the institution about 30 days ago and that the need to buy sanitary pads every month is worrying.

“When you don’t have it, it’s very difficult. In my case, I don’t have a fixed income, I don’t receive anything from the government or anything, I have to make do and ‘take a few leaps’. I was even worried because I had nothing for this month.”

Luciana Omena, special secretary of the TJAL Presidency, highlighted that the campaign carried out during Women’s Month fulfilled its role of bringing a little more encouragement to those who most need attention and care.

“This campaign was very rewarding. It was very moving to serve very needy communities, I think everyone who personally went to make the delivery had their hearts touched. We saw that we are doing the right thing, we are not going to solve the entire world’s problem, but we are going to contribute to alleviating these social problems,” she said.

The administrative coordinator of the halfway house, Lucas Cândido, said that the institution receives between 40 and 50 women per month and that sanitary pads are one of the personal hygiene items little remembered by donors.

“This is a problem we face daily because they need this material. And it is not always material that people remember when the time comes to donate. They remember the food a lot, but the needs, which are extra, are still forgotten,” he said.

In total, the “Um Fluxo de Amor” campaign raised 30,216 thousand sanitary pads with donations from magistrates, civil servants and partner institutions. Last year, 8,200 units were collected.

The partner institutions were the Regional Electoral Court (TRE/AL), the Brazilian Bar Association, Seccional Alagoas (OAB/AL), through the Special Commissions for Women and Women Lawyers, and the OAB Subsection Arapiraca, Association of Municipalities Alagoanos (AMA), Centro Universitário Cesmac do Agreste and the Association of Women in Legal Careers.
