Children’s fashion will be one of the highlights of the 31st edition of Minas Trend, from April 16th to 18th, at Minascentro, in Belo Horizonte (MG). Promoted by FIEMG – Federation of Industries of Minas Gerais, considered the largest trade show in the segment in Latin America, Minas Trend corroborates the country’s position as the fifth largest textile industry in the world, according to data from the Brazilian Association of Textile and Apparel Industry (Abit).

Furthermore, it shows the power of micro and small companies that represent 90% of the clothing sector, according to estimates from the Brazilian Clothing Association (Abravest) and reiterates estimates from the Brazilian Micro and Small Business Support Service (Sebrae) in the sense that the market for products in the children’s segment generates more than R$50 billion per year in the country. According to the Observatório da Criança, data from the 2022 Demographic Census from the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) estimated that 68.6 million children and adolescents between 0 and 19 years of age lived in Brazil at the time.

The Minas Trend Kids – Baby and Teens project, launched in the last edition of the event, as a way of learning about the sector’s business generation capacity, this year appears as the first edition of a Business Show that promises to be the flagship of an event that is part of the state’s productive and economic agenda. After all, children grow up, lose clothes easily and families need replacements with increasing frequency in the face of a demanding consumer market.

For Mariângela Marcon, president of the FIEMG Clothing and Accessories Industry Chamber, this is a niche with a plethora of possibilities. “Nowadays we have to think about innovation and different business models. The importance of Kids, Baby and Teens fashion is to bring another perspective of a new business model to our Show,” she notes. “We will have brands that were created at Minas Trend and that today have a successful financial life in Brazil and outside Brazil, receiving their buyers in their own showroom. This is new. We understand that the past Minas Trend brought what we have to look for when thinking about the evolution and development of fashion as a whole”.

Marcon also highlights the importance of partnerships, for example, with the Italian Chamber of Fashion, through the Nicoletta Gomiero course, with the presence of a professor from the University of Milan at the Business Hall to give a lecture on sustainability and also the interest of representatives from Portugal to talk about shoes. “I see this as a way of internationalizing our fashion and creating network connections with relevant countries to develop new business models and other visions of the production chain”, she compares.

Potential – Rogério Vasconcelos, president of the Clothing Industries Union of the State of Minas Gerais (Sindivest-MG), highlights the importance of the participation of reputable brands. “We took this care when curating, selecting the best. The idea is for Minas Trend Kids to grow to the point of covering the entire children’s chain so that we have the largest children’s fair in Brazil. Our expectations are high,” he notes. According to Vasconcelos, Minas Gerais has great potential, with huge children’s factories that sell throughout the country. Regarding the program, which will include lectures, in addition to the fashion shows, he says that the idea is to bring new content and information to visitors, guiding this audience about trends and the best products to have in stores.

Brands – According to the director of Top Agency, Taciana Teodoro Diniz Cavalcante, there will be 28 exhibiting brands from the Kids, Baby and Teens universe. Of these, more than half are from the state and the rest from Brazil and abroad. There will be more than 100 retailers buying from other states, more than 200 from Belo Horizonte and cities in the interior. “We have a very dynamic market, which grows 8 to 10% per year. Minas is currently the 3rd state that sells the most children’s clothing in Brazil.”

For the three-day event, whose highlights will be the fashion shows and lectures, the Top Agency casting will bring together nearly 70 Kids and Teens models, taking spring-summer fashion trends to the catwalks with more pastel colors, fine clothes and elegant, with classic prints that refer to sophistication. The Business Room will also have children’s party clothes, knitwear, casual clothes, as well as shoes and bags.

The fashion show for children and young people (from zero to 16 years old), an attraction in the programming of Minas Trend Trend Kids, Baby and Teens, is organized by FIEMG, executive produced by Top Agency, with support from the Chamber of the Clothing and Accessories Industry of FIEMG and Sindivest-MG.

This edition of Minas Trend is organized by SESI, SENAI and FIEMG, with master support from Sebrae-MG, sponsorship by the Belo Horizonte Chamber of Retail Managers (CDL-BH), Codemge and Bling. The event is supported by Jornal Estado de Minas. Check out the full schedule here.
