Video shows hooded person breaking into a burned-out car store in SC
Security cameras captured the moment a hooded man broke into and set fire to a vehicle store in Joinville, the most populous city in Santa Catarina, located in the north of the state, this Thursday (28). At least 70 vehicles were destroyed.
According to the Military Police, who treat the case as arson, the suspect had not been identified as of 9:40 am. In the images, it is possible to see the man walking between the vehicles that start to catch fire. In another camera, he jumps over the entrance to the place. No one is hurt.
The images were made available by Josias Correa, owner of the establishment, to NSC TV (watch above). The report did not have access to the full video, but the PM stated that the Civil Police will investigate the case.
“Yes, it was an arson. I was at home, sleeping. I’m in shock, I don’t even have any tears left. Ten years of history, of work, of a lot of dedication,” said the owner of the place.
O g1 was unable to contact the Joinville police station until the last update of the text.
The city’s volunteer firefighters were called at around 3:30 am, in the Floresta neighborhood, to fight the flames. Around 7am, the fire had already been completely extinguished.
According to Correa, the establishment has 10 employees. Despite having insurance that should cover part of the damage, the initial withdrawal is R$5 million in losses.
In addition to the cars, the structure’s roof was also damaged. As the floor was made of plastic, according to the owner, the flames soon spread throughout the store. Outside, residents also recorded the fire (watch below).
