Operation seizes picanha, cheese and other foods in conditions unsuitable for consumption in MG | South of Minas

The Federal Highway Police and the Minas Gerais Agricultural Institute (IMA) seized this Tuesday (26) food unfit for consumption during an operation on BR-146, in Poços de Caldas (MG). The action took place at km 488. Among the food seized were chicken, picanha, sausage, cheese and salami.

According to the PRF, the products were seized in two incidents. In the first approach, the police found 21 packages of chicken (thighs and drumsticks), 34 packages of mixed sausage and 14 packages of beef picanha in a truck. All were unfit for consumption, as they had an inadequate storage temperature and inadequate sanitary conditions inside the vehicle.

Still according to the PRF, a pickup truck was then approached and 73kg of smoked salami, 49 units of mozzarella sticks, a piece of black cape mountain cheese and two packages of mountain cheese were found.

These foods were also in unsuitable conditions for consumption, since they had an inadequate storage temperature and inadequate sanitary conditions, in addition to already having an appearance and odor characteristic of the deterioration process, which could cause serious damage to human health, if they reached the final costumer.

Those involved were charged and all the merchandise that would have been destined for commerce in the region’s municipalities was seized and sent to a disposal site.
