Irregular passenger transport is a concern for GDF supervisory bodies. On Tuesday (26), two tax actions were carried out: at the Interstate Bus Station, in the morning; and in Epia Sul near ParkShopping, in the late afternoon and early evening.

The objective is to curb irregular passenger transport and other irregularities in the individual transport service.

During the action at the bus station, around 30 drivers were inspected. The agents checked the registration status, mandatory use of equipment and the application and compliance with the rules for providing the service. Close to the shopping mall, the action was more educational, to guide drivers and passengers on regular use of transport. Several vehicles were approached, including cars and vans. In both actions, five drivers were fined for irregularities, and one for offering travel with the app turned off.

“We are carrying out this operation that combines the fight against irregular transport with educational actions”, said the Secretary of Transport and Mobility, Zeno Gonçalves, who has been closely following these actions. “Inspection is important to provide greater security for users of collective and individual public transport, improve passenger boarding at stops, and prevent possible fraud in the system”, he adds.

The operation brings together tax auditors from the Secretariat of Transport and Mobility (Semob) and the National Land Transport Agency (ANTT), as well as agents from the DF Traffic Department (Detran-DF) and DF military police officers.

According to the Undersecretary of Inspection, Auditing and Control at Semob (Sufisa), Júnio Nicola, the inspection bodies are working together to act in technical cooperation and carry out integrated tax actions, special operations or educational campaigns.

“On Semob’s part, the objective is to inhibit and punish STIP/DF drivers who pick up passengers without using the online travel agency application, and taxi drivers who disrespect the queuing rules to provide the service”, said the undersecretary.

In addition to the Interstate Bus Station, Semob has intensified inspection at the International Airport. Many passengers arriving in the capital have complained about the approach to boarding individual transport (taxi and STIP), by drivers who offer the ride with the app turned off or outside the queue.

“It is different from cases in which passengers are approached by unregulated drivers”, explained Junio Nicola. In this type of case, the infraction is provided for in the Brazilian Traffic Code (CTB), and fines are issued by the responsible traffic and inspection bodies.
