This Wednesday, the 27th, IBGE released new data from the Civil Records Survey. The list points to 420,000 divorces in Brazil in 2022 alone. This is almost half the number of marriages in the same period, around 970,000.

For divorce, the national separation rate is 2.5 per thousand inhabitants. At the municipal level, one piece of information is curious: among the 10 most ‘separate’ cities in Brazil, 6 are in Paraná. See the list below

Paraná is already starting to appear in the top 10 since last place. In Nossa Senhora das Graças, the rate is 4 divorces per thousand inhabitants. This is a lot compared to the 4 thousand inhabitants of the municipality.

The municipality of Paraná is another one for the list. There, the rate is 4.1 separations for every thousand inhabitants. The city is close to the border with Argentina.

Also in the state of Paraná, the city recorded a rate of 4.3 divorces per thousand inhabitants in 2022.

Only 3,590 people live in the city, according to the latest IBGE census. However, that didn’t stop her from making the list. There, there are 4.4 divorces per thousand inhabitants.

From the south straight to the northeast of Brazil, the municipality in Alagoas also appears on this list. In Jundiá, there are 5 separations for every thousand inhabitants.

The fifth place among the municipalities with the highest number of separations in Brazil is occupied by Guaraíta. The city is in Goiás and recorded 5.3 divorces per thousand inhabitants.

The state of São Paulo also appears in this survey. In Sagres, the number of divorces was high: 5.5 per thousand inhabitants. This earned the municipality fourth place on the list.

The top 3 of ‘suffering’ starts with a municipality in the state of Mato Grosso. In Reserva do Cabaçal, 6 divorces were recorded for every thousand inhabitants.

Paraná returns to this list, occupying second place among the most ‘separative’ cities. There, there are 6 legal separations for every thousand inhabitants.
