Police investigate complaint against teacher who allegedly harassed two students in Juruaia

The Civil Police are investigating allegations of sexual harassment that were allegedly committed by a teacher against two students inside a classroom at a state school in Juruaia (MG).

The case happened last Friday (22). The teacher, who is 65 years old, has already been dismissed from the school. According to the incident report, the 6th year students went to the principal’s office and reported that they were harassed by the teacher inside the room.

In addition to them, another student was also present as a witness to everything that had happened. The director then looked for the teacher, who denied everything. The teacher had been at the school since February and worked for around 45 days as a conscript, that is, he was not a public servant and was dismissed last Monday. According to the note sent by the school, there are no other allegations against him.

The director then contacted the Regional Education Superintendency of São Sebastião do Paraíso, the teaching reference in Juruaia.

The superintendency’s guidance was to seek out the Guardianship Council, parents and the Military Police. All of their reports were included in the police report, which was forwarded to the Civil Police.

A EPTV Sul de Minas, Rede Globo Affiliate, contacted the Regional Education Superintendence, which informed that members of the school management met with the students’ guardians and the Civil Police to collaborate with the investigation of the facts.

On Tuesday (26), professionals from the educational support center, made up of psychologists and social workers, were at the school to evaluate possible pedagogical actions that could be carried out in the school environment.

The Civil Police reported that they opened an investigation to investigate the allegations and should begin listening to those involved, with those responsible for the children, the teacher, management and the teacher involved in the complaint.
