The Government of Mato Grosso do Sul, through Setesc (Secretary of State for Tourism, Sport and Culture) and Fundesporte (Sports and Leisure Foundation), launches on April 3rd the public call for proposals ‘Sport and social transformation: new achievements in Mato Grosso do Sul’.

In total, R$7 million will be available to fund projects submitted by sports entities. The launch ceremony will take place at the Arquiteto Rubens Gil de Camillo Convention Center, in Campo Grande, starting at 6 pm.

The objective is to select sports projects and subsidize them in order to meet the various sporting events present in Mato Grosso do Sul. The projects must comply with laws, norms, rules and guidelines that govern public sports policies, covering its three major manifestations: sports training, sports excellence and sports experience.

In total, the resource of 7 million reais aims to cover seven different categories: sport and social transformation, adventure sport, assessment of health and performance of athletes, youth performance sport, adult performance sport, adult high performance sport and sports federations.

Sports entities, associations, institutes, NGOs, school clubs and/or sports clubs may submit up to two proposals in total, which must be in different categories.

Sports federations may only submit a single proposal in their category. The best-scoring entities will receive financial support according to the order in which the final result is placed, with the object expected to be implemented within a period of up to 12 months.

For the CEO of Fundesporte, Herculano Borges, the notice ‘Sport and social transformation: new achievements in Mato Grosso do Sul’ is extremely important in guaranteeing access to sport for all people.

“I believe that sport transforms lives, from grassroots to high-performance sports, sport promotes human values, offers intellectual and emotional resources that help decision-making for life. I carry important transformations with me in my personal and professional life that the sporting environment promoted”.

He reinforces the invitation to the entire sports community “we are expecting representatives of the entities and the entire sports community at our event, which is a milestone in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul, because the notice is open to the entire sports community, so they can send us sports projects, from sports initiation, to excellence, including adventure sports, sports in indigenous and quilombola communities. So that sport and leisure are promoted throughout the state”, emphasizes Herculano Borges.

New categories

The initiative aims to cater to sporting events from different segments. Some categories will be included for the first time in a public notice, such as the ‘sport for all’ category, which aims to serve, for example, entities that promote sporting activities in communities in situations of social vulnerability and that generate social transformation through sport. Being a percentage of vacancies reserved for serving original peoples or quilombolas.

Another new feature is the ‘adventure sport’ category, which, for example, covers sports practiced in natural environments, such as water marathon, mountain biking, canoeing, trail running, trekking and stand up paddle boarding. And also the category that concerns the assessment of athletes’ health and performance, with the purpose of subsidizing projects that provide multi-professional assessment of performance athletes.

The total investment by the Government of Mato Grosso do Sul is R$7 million. The notice, with all the details, will be available on the Fundesporte website from April 4th, the date on which it will be published in the Official State Gazette.
