Children from 30 municipalities in the North of Minas Gerais participate in a simultaneous planting of six thousand tree seedlings this Wednesday (27). This is the second edition of the “Hora Verde” Program carried out by the Multipurpose Intermunicipal Consortium for the Sustainable Environmental Development of the North of Minas (Codanorte).
The first edition was born in 2022 with the planting of 30 thousand seedlings. The action starts at 8:30 am and the species will be displayed in flowerbeds, avenues and squares in the participating cities. (See list below)
According to Codanorte, the objective is to raise awareness among students and the community about planting and preserving trees.
“This event seeks to draw attention to sustainability and how green areas are necessary for the balance of the ecosystem. Each of us can be part of this environmental network to improve the quality of life and health of the population”, commented president of Codanorte, Eduardo Rabelo.
The seedlings were donated by the State Forestry Institute (IEF) and also by Companhia Siderúrgica Nacional (CSN). The species will be displayed in flowerbeds, avenues and squares in the participating cities.
