CNMP asks the MP’s Internal Affairs Office for information about Rio Largo prosecutors

Political activists Alex Fernandes dos Santos, Cícero Leonardo Terto, Helder Cavalcante de Moura and Marivaldo Fragoso da Silva, formalized a disciplinary complaint against the Public Ministry of Alagoas (MPAL) at the National Council of the Public Ministry (CNMP).

The accusations involve possible irregularities in the functional performance of Rio Largo prosecutors, who conducted investigations in the municipality. They are the numbers: 06.2018.00000966-1, 06.2018.00000825-1 and 06.2018.00000783-0, all with restricted access on the Public Ministry portal.

The allegations revolve around cases of corruption in the municipal administration, involving Mayor Gilberto Gonçalves (PP), with allegations of suspicious filings and questionable agreements. After an investigation conducted by the CNMP, situations of inertia and unjustified delays in some investigations were identified.

One of the reasons given was that several prosecutors were involved in the procedures, which complicated the attribution of responsibility for delays in the proceedings. In light of the findings, the National Inspectorate requested information from the General Inspectorate of the Public Ministry of Alagoas and carried out extraordinary corrections at the Rio Largo Public Prosecutor’s Offices.

During the investigations, prosecutors Magno Alexandre Ferreira Moura and Louise Maria Teixeira da Silva were mentioned, highlighting the structural and personnel difficulties faced in the prosecutor’s offices. Now, we await the conclusion of the investigations to determine possible disciplinary measures.

“By order of the National Inspectorate of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, Ângelo Fabiano Farias da Costa, I fully accept the statement of the Auxiliary Member of the National Inspectorate of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, adopting it as reasons for deciding, to determine the General Inspectorate of the Public Prosecutor’s Office of the State of Alagoas that, within 10 days”, highlighted José Augusto Peres Filho, disciplinary coordinator of the National Corregedoria.

And he requested that the MPAL: inform which prosecutors effectively worked in the 2nd Public Prosecutor’s Office of Rio Largo, as holders and substitutes, including in possible absences, in the period between November 2019 and May 2023; and full copy of Civil Inquiries numbers 06.2018.00000966-1, 06.2018.00000825-1 and 06.2018.00000783-0″, he concluded.
