During the morning, the protest occupied two lanes at the airport. Drivers got out of their cars to protest with banners and posters.

The drivers present at the protest say that they are not against the regulation of drivers’ rights in general, but highlight that they do not agree with the current format of the project.

“There are agendas that do not represent us, that were not voted on by us. We are not against the regulatory proposals, but rather some points such as, for example, R$32 per hour worked. This is totally unfair”, highlighted a driver.

Drivers also complain about the discounts offered by the apps.

“They want to limit us to working 8 hours a day, which would be R$32 an hour,” he said.

Military Police cars accompany the demonstration.

The project sent by the federal government currently has the following proposals and was received with a series of criticisms by groups representing the class. Are they:

  • ➡️ working hours can reach 12 hours per platform;
  • ➡️ driver who works 8 hours a day cannot receive less than R$ 1,412;
  • ➡️ creation of the “self-employed worker by platform” category;
  • ➡️ women will have access to social security rights provided for in Maternity Aid;
  • ➡️ the driver will be able to choose when to work and there will be no exclusivity bond;
  • ➡️ there will be a category union;
  • ➡️ transparency about travel offer rules;
  • ➡️ worker must have minimum remuneration;
  • ➡️ the hour worked must have a minimum value of R$ 32.10.

Furthermore, the new rules do not mean an employment relationship between drivers and applications. Therefore, they will not be covered by the Consolidation of Labor Laws (CLT).
