The study “Housing Trends in Brazil”, carried out by real estate startup Loft in partnership with Offerwise, showed that Santa Catarina is the most desired destination for migration. Of the 3,095 respondents, 18.3% of respondents would like to move to the state. The research was carried out between March 9th and 13th.

According to the survey, one in three Brazilians, or 32.6% of the population, would like to live in another state in Brazil than the one they currently live in. Another 22.1% would be willing to consider a change.

“Santa Catarina is going through a special moment. Economic growth, security and natural beauty have been a great attraction. Balneário Camboriú and neighboring cities are constantly in the news as examples of appreciation in the real estate market. And in Florianópolis, in the last year alone, the price per square meter of properties for sale rose 15%, the biggest expansion in the cities we follow”, says Fábio Takahashi, data manager at Loft.

Residents of Rio Grande do Sul (59.6%) and Paraná (43%) were those who most cited Santa Catarina as the most desirable destination. Residents of Mato Grosso do Sul complete the Top 3 – 23.4% of people from Mato Grosso do Sul said they would move to Santa Catarina.

Next on the list of most desired states is São Paulo (11.8%), the only other state to account for more than 10% of the survey participants’ preference.

Respondents were asked: Thinking about a scenario in which you could live in any state in Brazil, whether now or in the future, which state in Brazil would you most like to move to?
