The government of Pernambuco published, in this Tuesday’s edition of the Official Gazette (24), a decree that regulates the Mães de Pernambuco program, launched on Monday (23). The document contains the tiebreaker criteria for granting the benefit, as well as information about payment and conditions of stay, for example.

As announced by the Secretary of Social Assistance, Combating Hunger and Drug Policies of Pernambuco, Carlos Braga, 100 thousand women were pre-selected to participate in Mães de Pernambuco based on the crossing of data available on CadÚnico.

To be entitled to the benefit, women must meet five requirements:

  • Live in Pernambuco;
  • ⁠Be a beneficiary of Bolsa Família and keep the Single Registry (CadÚnico) data updated;
  • Be responsible for the family;
  • ⁠Be pregnant, mother or responsible for a child up to 6 years old;
  • ⁠Not having formal employment.

In addition to selecting mothers with this profile, in accordance with the state decree, a type of “ranking” was used to prioritize women with greater socioeconomic vulnerability. Each topic is equivalent to one point used as a tiebreaker.

Check out the full list of tiebreaker criteria:

  • Having a dependent in early childhood;
  • Be pregnant and beneficiary of the Variable Benefit Program for Pregnant Women (BVG);
  • Being a provider for a single-parent family (solo mother);
  • Being a person with a disability or having a dependent with a disability;
  • Be over 65 years old;
  • Being black, brown, indigenous, quilombola or gypsy;
  • Be part of the terreiro community;
  • Work in extractive activities;
  • Working in artisanal fishing;
  • Integrate riverside community;
  • Be a collector of recyclable material;
  • Be settled for agrarian reform;
  • Being a rural camper;
  • Working in family farming;
  • Be a beneficiary of the National Land Credit Program;
  • Not knowing how to read or write;
  • Living in a place without running water;
  • Live in a place with walls built with materials such as: mud, straw or reclaimed wood;
  • Living in a place without a bathroom or toilet;
  • Living in an improvised location adapted to serve as housing (abandoned houses, buildings and camps in rural areas or in public areas such as tents and tents);
  • Living in collective homes, such as shelters, guesthouses, accommodation, among others;
  • Being homeless;
  • Have a family component in the prison system;
  • Having a child in a child labor situation.

Also according to the document, most of the mothers covered live in the following regions of the state:

  • Recife Metropolitan Region: 17,078;
  • Southern Agreste: 14,973;
  • Agreste Central: 14,699;
  • Mata Sul: 9,071;
  • Sertão do Araripe: 7,653.

Confirmation of joining the program must be done through the Mães de Pernambuco portal by April 25th. To do this, you must provide your date of birth and Social Identification Number (NIS).

Payment is scheduled to begin on May 13, the date following Mother’s Day, and will be made on the fifth business day of each month, starting in June, according to the state government.

The benefit will continue to be active and paid as long as the mother has children under 6 years of age, according to the government.
