MANAUS (AM) – The national president of União Brasil, Antonio Rueda, said that Manaus is the only municipality in Amazonas that is not aligned with the state governor, Wilson Lima (UB). The statement took place during the launch of the pre-candidacy of the president of Aleam, state deputy Roberto Cidade, for Manaus City Hall, on Monday night, 25th, in the East Zone of the city.

“The only place that is not aligned with the Wilson Lima Government is the municipality of Manaus. Something is wrong”, Rueda said during a speech. Despite the criticism, Rueda did not mention the mayor of Manaus, David Almeida (Avante), a pre-candidate for re-election.

Of the 62 municipalities in Amazonas, 61 are part of the alliance of the head of the state Executive. União Brasil has, in municipalities in Amazonas, a total of 60 provisional committees with appointed leaders.

Pre-application

At the launch of the pre-candidacy for the Mayor of Manaus, Roberto Cidade (UB) highlighted the close relationship with the governor of Amazonas, projects that marked Wilson Lima’s mandate, and criticized the management of mayor David Almeida (Avante), who seeks re-election.

Unlike Wilson, who avoided criticizing the current mayor of the capital of Amazonas, Cidade was incisive in stating that Manaus deserves a “better mayor than the one who is there”. On the other hand, the governor reinforced his support for the president of Aleam and said that he needs the deputy in charge of municipal management.

“The Legislative Assembly of Amazonas has never been so peaceful and it is the result of its work, understanding and the understanding that no one does anything alone. That’s why I need Roberto Cidade at Manaus City Hall”said the governor.

“Now we are going to build a government plan that will be focused on unity, that will include friendship and the support of the greatest political leadership in this State, which is Governor Wilson Lima, to make deliveries. We already do that. (…) I’m sure that Manaus needs a better mayor than this one”, said Cidade.

Alliances

Representatives from at least six parties participated in the pre-candidacy launch event. If the pre-candidacy ends on August 5th, the deadline for holding party conventions, Roberto Cidade can form a coalition with Solidariedade, Podemos, PMB and PRB.

At the press conference, the CENARIUM MAGAZINE asked whether Cidade expects to increase its voting intentions beyond the third and fourth place recorded in the latest polls and whether, if not, it is considering being vice-mayor on another ticket, the pre-candidate replied that he is very calm in relation to the polls.

“After the party window closes on April 6th, we will start pre-campaigning and do everything that can be done, taking into account the electoral rules. I’m very calm about the polls because there was a lot of talk two years ago that we had 4% and when the polls opened, it was a different story”he responded.
