The Bahia Without Hunger Program carried out measures to improve access to water for municipalities in Bahia. The state government estimated an investment of around R$50 million.

Around 1,125 sidewalk cisterns of 52 thousand liters and 1,722 family trench cisterns were implemented in 45 municipalities in the state across 15 lots.

Jerônimo Rodrigues, governor of Bahia, reaffirmed the importance of water resources for the lives of Bahians.

“Water is a fundamental resource for life and the production of healthy food. Without water, there is no food, there is no life. We are committed to working to ensure access to this vital resource and that its use is carried out in a sustainable manner. efficient”.

The Bahia Without Hunger Program is coordinated by Tiago Pereira. The coordinator spoke about the priorities of the initiative.

“In this dimension of transversality of policies and State action, water is a priority axis of the Bahia Without Hunger Program, the Food and Nutritional Security Policy, the Agroecology and Organic Production Policy and the Coexistence Policy with the Semi-Arid Region. Therefore , this is one of our main deliveries, because we understand that investing in water technologies is of fundamental importance for the maintenance of life, for the production of healthy food and so that we can, in fact, continue building dignity and autonomy of less favored families in the State of Bahia”, explains Tiago Pereira.
