The emergency doctor and clinical director of Hospital Beneficente Moacir Micheletto, Cristiano Ferreira Guimarães, clarified in an interview this Thursday (02), the classifications of dengue, its symptoms, medications used and the treatment offered by the hospital unit.

Dr. Cristiano also addressed essential individual care to prevent the proliferation of the Aedes aegypti mosquito, which transmits the disease. The alert becomes even more urgent given the bulletin released on Tuesday (30), by the Department of Health, which records a worrying increase in the number of cases in Saint Helena, with 789 confirmations since August 2023.

The symptoms of dengue vary according to the classification, as explained by Cristiano in an interview, but, in general, they include high fever, headache, muscle and joint pain, nausea, vomiting and spots on the skin. The hospital’s clinical director also emphasized the importance of adopting individual prevention measures to prevent the spread of mosquitoes. Among the main measures are: Eliminating breeding sites, using repellent and maintaining clean backyards.

The Municipality of Santa Helena reinforces its request to the population to collaborate in the prevention of dengue fever, adopting measures to control the Aedes aegypti mosquito.
