According to Ben-Shahar, happiness is not just an unattainable emotional state, but something that can be learned and cultivatedsuch as a skill.

  • Forgive your own failures

Previous studies have found that low levels of forgiveness are associated with disorders such as depression, anxiety and low self-esteem.

  • Be grateful for the good things

Ben-Shahar argues that regular gratitude for the positive aspects of our lives increases our overall well-being.

Regular physical activity provides numerous benefits to physical and mental health. In the teacher’s words, practicing 30 minutes of walking a day makes a difference.

Adequate sleep and healthy eating habits also lead to physical and mental health.

  • Simplify, at leisure and at work

Stress and overwhelm can be alleviated by simplifying our lives, both in the workplace and in our personal time. Therefore, it is better to focus on just one task, avoiding doing everything at the same time.

Additionally, meditation is a powerful tool for calming the mind and promoting self-awareness.
