Dengue vaccine is released for people aged 4 to 59

According to a technical note from the Ministry of Health, the City of Feira de Santana, through the Municipal Health Department (SMS), expands the age range for vaccination against dengue to people aged 4 to 59 years 11 months and 29 days.

SMS initially received 17,688 doses of the vaccine. Despite the expansion of the age group, demand for the vaccine was high and the doses that were still available were exhausted, the Health Department (SMS) informed Acorda Cidade. The Municipality now depends on a new shipment, sent by the Federal Government, with no expected arrival date.

CONTRAINDICATION

According to the technical note from the Ministry of Health, the dengue vaccine cannot be administered to people who have been infected with the disease in the last six months, pregnant or breastfeeding women, or people allergic to the components of the vaccine. People with congenital or acquired immunodeficiency, including those receiving immunosuppressive therapies such as chemotherapy or high doses of systemic corticosteroids within four weeks prior to vaccination.

In addition to individuals with symptomatic HIV infection or asymptomatic HIV infection when accompanied by evidence of compromised immune function.
