Health confirms 4th death due to suspected dengue in Umuarama; cases reach 754 in the city

On Tuesday afternoon, the 2nd, the Municipal Health Department announced another suspected death from dengue in Umuarama – the fourth in the current epidemiological period. None of them have received confirmation so far. The fourth victim is a 66-year-old man who lived with comorbidities.

“The case is under investigation, as are the others previously announced, and is awaiting test results that were sent to the State Central Laboratory (Lacen), with the possibility of confirming or ruling out the relationship between the deaths and dengue fever,” informed the coordinator of the Epidemiological Surveillance of the municipality, Priscila Jardim Baraviera.

The latest weekly update from the Department of Health announced 93 new cases of dengue confirmed in the last week, bringing the total number of people who contracted the disease in the current period to 754. Furthermore, there are 1,425 suspects under investigation – which could make this situation more serious.

Another 1,290 suspicions were discarded from the total of 3,469 notifications registered since 06/30/23. Two patients had dengue with warning signs (DSA) and now four deaths remain under investigation and are suspected to have occurred as a result of symptoms of the disease.

In Paraná, according to the latest report from the State Department of Health (Sesa), issued this Tuesday, there are already 159,357 confirmed cases of dengue and 77 deaths, in this seasonal period.
