With change, the Animal Welfare sector will be able to fine

The move of the Animal Welfare sector from the Municipal Health Department of Brusque City Hall to the Environmental Foundation (Fundema) aims to give the sector more autonomy and conditions for action. This was the statement made by the head of the sector, Jessica Ricardo, in an interview with the Rádio Revista Cidade program, on Rádio Cidade FM, this Thursday (28).

According to Jéssica, before, the Animal Welfare sector ended up being inoperative and was unable to respond to the demands that reached the public authorities. “In fact, it was created, in a way, just because of the obligation (legal action)”, she pointed out, stating that the idea is to make the action permanent.

Former president of the Santa Catarina Animal Protection Association (Acapra), the head of Animal Welfare says she knows the reality of the sector well, especially in relation to cases of abandonment and mistreatment.

With Bem Estar Animal going to Fundema, an inspection team will be set up, including a vehicle available for visits. Furthermore, the City Hall is verifying the legal manner and imposing fines on anyone caught in situations of mistreatment or abandonment of animals. “Before, this wasn’t possible,” said Jéssica.
