Rio de Janeiro researcher and engineer Joana Siqueira had just given birth to her first daughter, Dora, when the world had to close down due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The anxieties and discoveries of a new world for mother and daughter resulted in a book, “Opening the womb in a prison world – reports of motherhood in the pandemic”, now released by Kotter Editorial.

Joana Siqueira is Arte Clube’s guest and says that sharing her deepest feelings about motherhood can help other mothers deal with guilt and other feelings. She also reflects on the romanticization of motherhood, something that favors men, as difficulties are hidden so that they do not take responsibility for this process.
