Sylvester Stallone He is known for playing some of the most persevering characters in the history of action cinema. Now, the actor has revealed that, in real life, it’s not quite like that. Stallone suffered a nearly career-ending injury in the past.

In an interview with TMZ, the actor said his career was almost ended prematurely while filming Rocky II: The Revenge. The injury occurred during training with the bodybuilder Franco Columbujust a month and a half before the film began filming.

The injury occurred when Stallone was lifting weights while preparing for filming. “I was lifting maybe 200 pounds. It was a warm-up, and then I hear a pop and I fall to the floor. Franco comes over to look and notices that I’ve detached my pec from the bone in a horrible way. I could hear it tearing and I thought I would faint”.

The star also commented on his feelings after the accident: “I go home and I feel like my career is over. I’m supposed to direct and star in Rocky II in just over a month. The difference is – and Arnold Schwarzenegger would have done the same thing – I can’t use one of my arms, so I’m going to change that in Rocky. The character will fight with his right hand”.

Rocky II: The Rematch was released in 1979, and is the second chapter in a franchise that continues today, with the films Creed lived by Michael B. Jordan. Rocky II is available for streaming on Prime Video and in Paramount+.
