Monja Coen revealed on his social networks this Thursday (28.03) that he is undergoing treatment for skin cancer. She shared some videos in which she appears in a good mood when saying that she is undergoing chemotherapy sessions.

“I’m giving feedback on my treatment. It gets worse before it gets better, you see?”, he said while showing some wounds on his face and head. “It gets a little worse, it starts to form this crust… I said I’m turning into an alligator because this crust is very hard. After the alligator, who knows, who knows, I’ll turn into a fish again, right?”, he joked.

She also reassured her followers by talking about the chemotherapy sessions. “It’s just so you know. It works. The treatment is like that and it’s improving. I went to the doctor yesterday and she said: ‘Congratulations’. So, don’t worry.”

In another video, she states: “Just to remember that everything that begins, has a middle and an end. I’m in a healing process and it’s ugly. It gets really ugly, but then it gets better. That’s how life is. Sometimes, the We go through moments when things are not as we would like. We are not in the best state of health, in the best financial state, relationships are difficult, but everything has a beginning, middle and end”, he warned.

Cláudia Dias Baptista de Souza, known as Monja Coen, is 76 years old, and is a Brazilian Buddhist nun of Portuguese descent, and an official missionary of the Soto Shu tradition based in Japan. She is also the founder of the Zen Buddhist Community, created in 2001 in São Paul.
