After the announcement of Madonna’s show in Rio de Janeiro, there’s nothing like remembering a story that warms the hearts of the singer’s fans. Maria Solange Paulino Amorim, from Ceará, who went viral on social media in 2020 when she danced to “Holiday”, told how her life has been since being noticed by the pop star.

Maria became known in 2018, when she published a funny video that toured the country. The comedian was compared to the then candidate for President of the Republic, Marina Silva. For this reason, she was nicknamed Marina Silva de Manaus and adopted the stage name on her social networks.

On Instagram, Madonna reposted the video with an inspiring caption. “Are you feeling hopeless today? Does life seem like one bad news after another? Does the apocalypse seem like it’s just around the corner? I think many of us feel the same way. On days like this we just have to turn on the music and dance!”, declared the singer. At the time, the comedian was grieving over her son’s murder, and she decided to pay tribute to the boy through dance.

Four years after the viral, she celebrated overcoming her addiction. Currently living with her sister in Guarulhos, São Paulo, Maria revealed that she dreams of meeting the diva. “I really want to meet this woman up close, maybe give her a hug and thank her in person. Look deep into her eyes and say how much I pray for her and her life.”she said, emotionally, during an interview with g1.

“I am an accomplished woman, sober and clean for four years. My purpose was to get back to my routine, study, work and walk on my own two feet. And all of this is happening in my life. I’m already in high school, after years away from the classroom, but nothing that can’t be recovered. I’m still alive”he added.

Maria’s recovery began when the social project Parceiros Brilhantes, from Manaus, saw the video and offered support to the comedian. She spent eight months in a drug addiction clinic, received dental treatment and went back to school.

The woman remembered her son who, according to her, was also a drug user. “Inside it was as if I remained alive, but without a heart. It was as if a tractor had run over my heart. I went to the bar owner and said to put on some music for me to dance for my son. Well, didn’t ‘Holiday’ come out? It was written in the stars. Since I was 14 I’ve been in love with Madonna. That dance was for him, it was my pain that I wanted to overflow. It was my feeling of guilt. Until then I blamed myself for the death, for not having set a good example. We are mirrors for our children. They will want to be what we are. That’s how it happened to me”he completed.

Despite what many believe, she explained that she never ended up on the streets, as she paid R$30 a night in a shelter. However, Maria spent three decades away from her family because of addiction. “Unfortunately, in my past, I had this terrible choice. The choice to live in a dark world. There were people in my family who mourned my death. There were many years without contact, without a telephone. I saw a lot of deaths, people who lost their legs, their arms, their eyes, their tongue for talking too much. I saw people die next to me. I always had faith”he declared.

Nowadays, at 54 years old, she got a job and even received a trip to Europe as a gift. “I am very grateful for giving opportunities to people of advanced age. This is very difficult in the job market. Sometimes they don’t even receive your resume. I love working. It’s my biggest fun. I wake up at 4:30 am every day and get home at 11:30 pm, because of workho I’m going to school. Don’t challenge drugs. Don’t try to challenge drugs. Say yes to life”he concluded.
