The launch of the Caoa Chery Tiggo 7 Sport gave a new lease of life to Caoa Chery’s operations in Brazil. It is, by far, the cheapest medium SUV in Brazil: it costs R$134,990, the price of a compact SUV. But, even with all the company’s preparation, the waiting list for the Tiggo 7 Sport is already six months long.

At least that’s what a statement distributed to Chery dealers in recent weeks says, to which QUATRO RODAS had access. The company’s intention is to ensure that sellers are transparent with their customers at the time of purchase.

It’s not without reason. The Tiggo 7 Sport was launched at the end of February and saw sales of the SUV take off from 522 registrations in February to 1,745 cars in March. And the manufacturer predicts that it will go well beyond that in the coming months.

Effort to produce more Tiggo 7

In the statement, Caoa Chery says that its expectation was to close the month of March with 15,000 units of the Tiggo 7 Sport sold. In other words, 15,000 cars were sold in just the first full month of the car in stores.

As a result, the company recommends that dealerships work within a period of 180 days until the car is delivered, but states that the period could be longer or shorter.

On the other hand, Caoa Chery has been mobilizing to increase its production. The company opened the second production shift at the Anápolis (GO) factory at the end of January and is now negotiating the import of more assembly kits for the Tiggo 7 Sport. This is because the SUV is assembled in Brazil under the CKd regime, with most of the parts imported from China. With more kits on the way, it will be possible to increase the volume of car deliveries.

Why is the Tiggo 7 Sport selling so much?

First, because it costs R$ 134,990 and still delivers much of the equipment found in the more expensive versions, in this case, the Tiggo 7 Pro hybrid combines the 1.5 turbo engine with 48 V MHEV system and the Tiggo 7 Pro, with the 1.6 turbo with 187 hp and 28 kgfm.

The Tiggo 7 Sport has a simpler engine, the 1.5 turbo without any electrification with 150 hp and 21.4 kgfm, using a nine-speed CVT transmission.

As standard, the Tiggo 7 Sport features a 10.25″ multimedia center, 12.3″ digital instrument panel, electric adjustments for the driver’s and front passenger’s seats and full-LED headlights and lights, with cornering assistance in the case. of the fog light.
