The Central Bank foresees a greater economic growth in 2024. The projection for GDP (Gross Domestic Product) for the year was revised from 1.7% to 1.9%. According to the institution, the moderate review It mainly reflects the slightly greater than expected dynamism of the economy at the beginning of the year, as suggested by available indicators.

The data comes from the RTI (Quarterly Inflation Report), released this Thursday (28).

“The revision mainly reflects the slightly greater than expected dynamism of economic activity at the beginning of the first quarter. From a supply perspective, a decline in agriculture is expected, after a significant increase in 2023, and growth of similar magnitudes to each other and not very far from what occurred in 2023, for industry and services”, says the text.

This Tuesday (26), the Minister of Finance, Fernando Haddad, talked about reviewing the department’s projections for GDP this year. The ministry’s current forecast is that the Brazilian economy will grow 2.2% this year, with inflation of 3.5%.

Regarding inflation, the BC’s estimate remained stable at 3.5%. In 12 months, accumulated inflation is 4.5%, a drop compared to the last quarter, when it was 4.7%. Expectations remain above the 3% target.

According to the report, in 2024 and 2025, inflation is projected to be 3.5% and 3.2%, respectively.
