The Casa da Cultura de Arapiraca continues to promote actions to encourage literature. Until the end of September, the cultural space of the Municipal Secretary of Culture, Leisure and Youth, located at Praça Luiz Pereira Lima, in the center of Arapiraca, will host the 1st Book Exchange Fair, an opportunity for those who want to know new stories and help to renew the collection of the Professor Pedro de França Reis Municipal Public Library.

Interested readers can attend the site from 8 am to 5 pm, opening hours of the Casa da Cultura. According to the director of Casa da Cultura, John Elvis, the idea was for the project to end this Friday (23), but the success and demand was such that the direction decided to extend the Fair until the end of the month.

“Through this initiative, we will update the library’s collection, since a book that we already have in the collection will be exchanged for another that we don’t have. And in this partnership, everyone wins. Since the first day of the action, we have already received as donations, books such as the Anti-Racist Manual by Djamila Ribeiro, On the Social Contract by Rosseau, books by Nietzsche and classic thinkers”, pointed out the director.

Also according to John, the organization of the Library carried out a screening of hundreds of books to exchange with the readers and users of the space. All the books selected for exchange are also in the permanent collection of the Library, which today has more than 20,000 books, according to the latest survey. Each reader can exchange up to three books at a time.
