Israel says ceasefire proposal is ‘far’ from its demands

Hamas leader, Ismail Haniyeh, accepted a ceasefire proposal this Monday (6). He sent a message to the Prime Minister of Qatar, one of the mediators of the conflict, agreeing to the terms of the agreement, which were not publicly disclosed.

Ismail Haniyeh, head of the political office of the Hamas movement, spoke by telephone with Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani and Egyptian Minister of Intelligence Abbas Kamel and informed them of the approval of the Hamas movement to its proposal regarding the ceasefire agreement.

Qatar, the United States and Egypt have been working to try to achieve a ceasefire in the war. The conflict between Hamas and Israel began on October 7, 2023. Yesterday, the Ministry of Health of Hamas, which governs the Gaza Strip, reported the deaths of 34,683 people in the Palestinian enclave since the start of the war. In total, 78,018 people were injured in almost seven months of conflict

Israel wants the release of hostages in exchange for detained prisoners. Hamas, on the other hand, called for an end to Israel’s offensive and a total Israeli withdrawal from the destroyed territory.
