A man was shot three times this Thursday afternoon (25) after breaking into a police station in São Lourenço, in the south of Minas, and attacking a police officer. The victim, identified as Renan Leite de Souza, was treated and taken to a city hospital.

According to witnesses, Renan entered the São Lourenço Regional Police Station armed with a knife and threatened the employees who worked there. The man also allegedly threw a computer on the floor and screamed several times. The situation caught the attention of a delegate who was at the unit and went to investigate the situation.

The agent allegedly asked the man to throw the knife on the ground and surrender, but he ended up doing just the opposite and attacking the deputy. The agent then fired two shots at the man’s leg, who continued advancing towards the deputy, who fired a third shot that hit Renan in the abdomen.

The Fire Department was called and, upon arriving at the police station, they found the victim still conscious, but disoriented and bleeding heavily. He was taken to São Lourenço Hospital, where he was treated. The hospital did not want to provide information about the patient’s health status. The deputy was not injured.

A Itatiaia contacted the Civil Police and is awaiting a response. The space remains open.
