According to news published by the international agency ‘Lusa’, the Comptroller General of the Republic of Venezuela (CGR) banned five more Venezuelan opponents from holding public office.
The body is responsible for ensuring the transparent administration of the State’s public assets, but it was set up to become a ‘machine for grinding opponents’.
“According to the list published this Wednesday (24) in Caracas, four opponents, Carlos Ocariz, Elías Sayegh, José Fernández and Tomás Guanipa, were disqualified for 15 years and the fifth, Juan Carlos Caldera, for the next 12 months. Carlos Ocariz, Tomás Guanipa and Juan Carlos Caldera belong to the center-right party Primero Justicia”, says Lusa
In a situation that is increasingly ‘less strange to Brazilians’, the publication highlights the unconstitutional interference of the Venezuelan Supreme Court in local politics:
“The Venezuelan Supreme Court of Justice ordered, on April 22, for the second time in four years, the restructuring of the party, appointing a provisional leadership chaired by José Dionísio Brito. According to the local press, Brito was expelled from the party, after, in 2019, a report was published linking him to suspected acts of corruption. The other two who received sanctions, José Fernández and Elías Sayegh, belong to the political organizations Fuerza Vecinal and Movimiento Cambio en Paz.”
The report shows that Maduro concentrates all powers in an intransigent way, to the point of forcing opposition parties, get this, to negotiate with the government as far as they can ‘disagree’:
“The delegation representing the Democratic Unitary Platform (PUD, which brings together the main opposition parties) in negotiations with the government of President Nicolás Maduro, has already condemned the CGR’s decision. It says it is “a new offensive against the right of citizens to elect, in a democratic process”, before the presidential elections scheduled for July 28th”.
“The coalition said that “the unconstitutional and illegal disqualifications made public, violating the right to defense and due process, represent the continuity of the arbitrariness carried out from power in violation also of the Barbados Agreement”, signed in October 2023 between the government Venezuelan and the opposition.”
The Vente Venezuela party, led by Maria Corina Machado, who had already been prevented from holding public office, expressed solidarity with those affected and accused the CGR of using disqualifications as a “weapon” to punish crimes of thought.
“CGD has disqualified, in recent years, three opposition leaders, including Maria Corina Machado, winner of the opposition primaries in October, the former presidential candidate and former governor of the state of Miranda, Henrique Capriles Radonski, from the First Justice party, and the former president of Parliament, Juan Guaidó, from the Vente Venezuela party, who in January 2019, publicly swore to assume the role of interim president of the country until he removes Maduro from power and who is currently in asylum in the United States”, concluded the matter.
Thus, the narco-dictatorship of ‘President Lula’s friend’ strictly follows the far-left’s playbook, under the conniving silence (could it be a learning experience?) of the Brazilian government and its dwarf diplomacy.
