The Argentine president Javier Milei reported last Sunday (31) that the dollarization plan of the country’s economy will be delayed. In an interview with CNN en Español, he stated that one of his main campaign promises should be implemented only in 2025when legislative elections take place.

“I don’t think we’ll get there before next year’s legislative elections,” said Milei.

Despite the project not going the way he wanted, the president assured that he will implement it.

To put it into action, Milei explained that he will need to close the Central Bank of Argentina, another campaign promise.

“We can make all the reforms we want, but if we let the Central Bank live, sooner or later, criminal politicians will use it to rob the people,” he said.

To dollarize the economy, the head of the Argentine Executive needs the support of Congress and increase the country’s dollar reserve. Even though he guarantees that he will put the project into practice, he did not detail how he will do this.
