Rio – Former BBBs Thelma Assis and Marcela McGowan used Instagram, this Thursday (9), to publicize the creation of the first exclusive shelter for women and children, in Canoas, Rio Grande do Sul. The doctors are acting as volunteers, helping victims of the biggest flood in the region’s history. The action was taken after reports of sexual abuse in mixed-gender places.

“I’m very excited! This is a shelter that women created for vulnerable women and children so that they feel more protected here in this place”, began Thelminha. “We are now going to carry out an active search in shelters and offer women to come here. We will be able to care for more than 100 women and children here so they can stay safe until the situation improves”, concluded the doctor anesthetist, with the aim of publicizing the project and raising more donations.

Marcela also used her social networks to tell the news and ask for help, showing how the space is looking with plush toys on the beds and leisure space. “The first shelter just for women and children is being created here,” said the gynecologist.
