The Office: Continuation of the series is confirmed

A NBCUniversal and the North American streaming service Peacock gave the green light for the semi-continuation of The Office. The project, starring Sabrina Impacciatore (The White Lotus) and Domhnall Gleeson (Star Wars: The Force Awakens) received a one-season order.

The series is produced with the creator of the American version of The Office, Greg DanielsIt is Michael Korman (Nathan For You). The two will co-create this new series, which follows the same team that made the original Dunder Mifflin documentary series filming the life of a historic but on its last legs local newspaper in the US Midwest.

The series takes place in the same universe as the previous one, but so far there is no confirmation of the return of any character.

As it is a Peacock production, which is only available in the USA, we do not yet know where this new series will be shown in Brazil. Other series on the platform were launched here by Star+ or Max.

In September 2024, it was announced that the American version of The Office would get a reboot. In January, however, Deadline pointed out that the new series would just be a derivative that would take place in a new office with new characters, but in the same universe as the mockumentary starring Steve Carell.

This will be the 14th version of The Office, originally created in the United Kingdom by Ricky Gervais It is Stephen Merchant. Other adaptations were made in France, Canada, Chile, Israel, the Middle East and more recently Australia, but none achieved the fame and success of the American version released in 2009 and starring Carrell as Michael Scott. Furthermore, new versions are typically made in different countries, there has never been a reboot.

With John Krasinski, Jenna Fischer, Rainn Wilson, Ellie Kemper, Angela Kinsey and many other comedians in the cast, the series ran for nine seasons and collected countless awards, finding a new audience in the streaming era.

The Office won four Emmys, including Best Comedy Series in 2006, and was also awarded at the Golden Globes, SAG Awards and Peabody Awards. Today, after years on platforms like Netflix and Prime, The Office is bigger than ever, achieving even greater success with younger audiences who didn’t watch it during its original run.

The Office addresses the lives of office workers with a plot of mockumentary. In other words, there is a documentary approach, with the characters being interviewed directly by the camera and journalistic language in the photography, but it is all a comedy. In the 2009 American series, we follow employees at the paper supplier Dunder Mifflin, in the city of Scranton, in the state of Pennsylvania.
