Understand the phenomenon
The Eta Aquáridas meteor shower is an annual celestial phenomenon that occurs when the Earth crosses the orbit of Halley’s comet. During this journey, particles of dust and debris left by the comet as it passes close to the Sun penetrate the Earth’s atmosphere and create spectacular meteor displays.
Days before, a meteor was spotted tearing through the sky over the city of Monte Castelo. The rapid phenomenon lasted approximately 3 seconds, recorded by Bramon cameras (Brazilian Meteor Monitoring Network).
